If transport weren't an issue (don't drive, never will have that option) then I'd certainly consider somewhere down on the coast. My sister lived in Mt Martha for a while and it was lovely.

Or one of the little towns in the Yarra.

Heck, it's really just the transport thing that keeps me in the city...

tangent_woman reckons that transport to Ballarat's not too bad these days, but yeah, outside of a 'regional hub' type of town, PT would be a real issue.
